Choosing
a web designer can be a difficult task. There are thousands of Web Designers
throughout Sydney, Australia and the World who could create a website
for you. However, it is important that a productive working relationship
can be established.
There are also some things you should consider when choosing which web
designer is right for you:
- Look at the web designer's website. If it doesn't
meet your approval, it may be time to investigate another web designer.
- Look at their past work. Any web designer should
have a portfolio of previously designed websites for you to veiw. If
you like the websites they have built for past clients, then there is
a good chance you will like the website design they create for you.
- Check references. Former clients will be able to
tell you what the web designer was like to deal with. Here are few questions
that you may want to ask when speaking to a reference:
- Did they meet agreed deadlines?
- Were they flexible?
- Did they set and meet realistic goals for your website?
- Would they work with this web design company again?
- Continuity. Be sure the website design company will
be able to take your website from start to finish. The total cost of
the website will be less if you can work with one web design company.
- Agree on goals in writing. It is
important that your web designer is working towards the goals you have
set for your website. Ensure that the website designer is aware of your
objectives and target market. A website represents the first contact
point for many prospective clients, and a regular contact point for
existing clients. Your website is an extension of your business, it
must convey a style and image that best represents your company to it's
clients.
- Agree on costs in writing. Agree on all costs that
will be incurred during the development of the website. Get a detailed
estimate in writing. Understand what will be provided for the agreed
cost. Too many website design companies have a low price to get you
to work with them, then increase the price for additional extras you
didn't realise were involved.
- Review your website's progress regularly. Make sure
that you will be able to see the progress of your website and give approval
on each stage of the process. You don't want to start a project and
then two months later be given the final website without ever seeing
it during development.
